Cheek augmentation, or malar augmentation, is a procedure meant to raise the cheeks up and create a fresher, more refined, more youthful appearance.
Some people are born with good cheekbones and don’t experience those age-related changes of “sunken cheeks,” or that hollow look in the mid-face, as quickly as those without good cheekbones. But over time, we all experience those subtle changes, like that loss of facial definition that makes us look tired and older.
There are various options available for to change your mid-face and cheek area. During your initial consultation at Abramson Facial Plastic Surgery & Rejuvenation Center, you and Dr. Abramson can discuss your primary area of concern to determine which procedure is right for you.
Below are a few examples of cheek procedures offered by the Abramson Facial Plastic Surgery & Rejuvenation Center:
- Sculptra, which is great for facial wasting
- Mid-face Lift, which lifts the malar/cheek area
- Cheek Implants, which are synthetic materials that augment the cheek bone, offering recontouring of the cheek area
The cheek implant procedure can also be done along with other facial rejuvenation procedures, such as chin implant procedures or nose reshaping (rhinoplasty).
Dr. Abramson may recommend you take a number of steps to prepare for your cheek implant surgery, such as:
- Be sure to eat a diet rich in nutrients to help your body heal and recover quickly.
- Refrain from smoking for the two weeks prior and the several weeks following your surgery.
- Do not take products containing aspirin or ibuprofen.
- Disclose all medicines, vitamins or herbs you take with your physician.
- Refrain from eating or drinking after midnight before your surgery.
- Take steps to ensure you do not have a sunburn during your procedure.
- Refrain from wearing makeup or contact lenses to your procedure.
- Ensure that someone can drive you to and from your procedure and assist you afterwards while you recover.
