Patients need to be aware that some medications increase the likelihood of bruising. Therefore, Dr. Abramson advises patients to stop taking the medications listed below for 4-7 days prior to Belotero® injections.
- Motrin, Advil, Ibroprofen, Naprosyn (anti-inflammatory medications)
- Fish oils
- Vitamin E
- Ginko Biloba
- Coumadin or Lovenox (though you are more likely to bruise if you are on these, we suggest you DO NOT stop this medication, and seek your primary doctors approval)
About the Procedure
All filler treatment procedures start with either a topical anesthetic, an injection of anesthetic, or an anesthetic block to lessen or eliminate discomfort. Once the desired area is numb, Dr. Abramson will inject the filler under the skin. Belotero® integrates with your own natural tissue to plump and fill in wrinkles. Multiple injections are made so the dermal filler is evenly distributed through the area. The entire procedure can be performed in less than an hour and does not require pre-testing.
How Long Does Belotero Facial Filler Last?
Belotero® works by integrating with your skin and adapting to your facial contours for beautiful results that last 6-12 months. 97% of patients show visible improvement with just one treatment.
Aftercare and Recovery
Little or no anesthesia is required because the needles are so small that discomfort is minimal. There are topical anesthetic agents that can be used, depending on the patient’s preference and the sensitivity of the area being treated. Some patients may have slight swelling around the injection areas that will go away within a few hours.
