Common Reasons My Patients Choose Rhinoplasty

“When a patient comes to see me for rhinoplasty, they usually have been thinking about doing a nose reshaping surgery for a long period of time. Sometimes we get patients that are in their teens, sometimes just out of college, and even many who have already entered into their 40’s and 50’s and have never liked the shape of their nose.

Rhinoplasty Consultation

Rhinoplasty is one of my favorite procedures that I do because the patients are some of my most educated patients. They usually know quite a bit about the procedure, even the anatomy, and they ask very intelligent questions. My teenagers tend to be some of the most intelligent patients because they have to convince their parents that it’s the right thing to do.

Recovering from Rhinoplasty

Postoperatively, we will generally see the patient one week later, and they will usually have a external splint or cast to remove, and sometimes, but not always, an internal splint, which is a small, little silastic sheet that helps prevent scarring. I generally do not use any packing, and if I have to use a little pad in the nose to help reduce some of the postoperative drainage, then at that point it’s just suction on the day that the patient comes in postoperatively. I don’t use the traditional rolled up packing that everybody’s heard about from their aunt or uncle or grandparent that had a rhinoplasty, and that scares them in the first place from even coming in and talking to a doctor such as myself.

Revision Rhinoplasty

“When patients are unhappy with their previous Rhinoplasty, and they come to see me for a potential revision. It is exceedingly important that we go over all of their surgical history and medical history and determine what may have occurred, and what I may be able to do to help them in improving their appearance and potentially improving their airway as well. The computer imaging is exceedingly helpful in this situation because we can objectively look at the nose and determine, what are the abnormalities or potential postoperative changes that the patient does not particularly like, and then at that point decide on a plan.”

Chin Augmentation with Rhinoplasty

When we do a consultation with a patient, facial proportions are exceedingly important, and we review these, particularly with the help of our computer imaging system. Many times what we will determine is that a patient’s chin is somewhat poorly projected and may also affect how the nose is perceived. So, sometimes we actually will recommend augmenting the projection of the chin while doing a Rhinoplasty, and this also, not only increases the improvement in what the perception of the nose surgery is, but also the patients seem to be much happier.

Rhinoplasty Complications

“Rhinoplasty has many times been referred to as one of the most complex and difficult plastic surgery procedures. From my background in head and neck, and ear, nose and throat surgery, I have a unique advantage of knowing the insides, as well as the outsides, of the nose. In particular, I focus on the internal aspects of the nose where there are many different portions of, and anatomical structures that are important to evaluate and make sure that they are working together in order for the patient to breathe well after surgery.

Do You Have to Do All Facial Procedures at the Same Time?

Many times, it is much more appropriate and more balanced to do certain surgeries at the same time.  When we do upper eyelids without lower eyelids  it makes the patient look unbalanced and it would be more effective to do both at the same time. We give our thorough and honest opinion about this, so that the patient will be able to make a knowledgeable decision on where to proceed next. And many times what we will also do is create several different treatment plans so a patient can determine what might be best for them at this time, and the things that they may want to wait on.”

Maximizing Your Botox Experience

Sometimes after Botox injections, the patient will experience some bruising. Most of the time it’s exceedingly light and very superficial. Todays needles used for Botox are much smaller than those used in the past so bruising is minimal or none at all. Also, patients should reduce their intake off Aspirin or Ibuprofen days before their injectable appointment with Dr. Abramson.

Our Surgical Facility

We do our surgeries at our outpatient center, which is on the top floor of our building. It’s a triple AC certified surgical facility that’s been open for more than a decade. We use anesthesiologists from Northside Hospital. And, as our patients sometimes will do, they like to visit or tour the center prior to having their surgery, or even sometimes meet with the anesthesiologist if they have specific questions that they’d like to ask.

Medical Spa Services

At Abramson Facial Plastic Surgery Center, we offer a complete array of medical spa services as well as a wide variety of skincare products to help women of all ages maintain healthy, radiant skin. Our Licensed Medical Aesthetician, Lina Valiukaite, and her staff evaluate each patient’s skin based on type and condition. Their customized treatment plans produce exceptional results. Lina has over 15 years of experience as a medical aesthetician and has worked with Dr. Abramson for over a decade.

Lose Your Double Chin with Kybella

Patient goes through a Kybella injectable procedure. Dr. Abramson injects Kybella under her chin, because she has a little bit of fat here that she’d like to have more contour, a little sharper angle, and a little bit of feathering out here as well.
