Combine Rhinoplasty and Chin Implant Surgery
In these dual surgeries, performed at the same time, the planes of your face are changed. Your nose is re-sculpted into a more attractive shape and size, and your chin is augmented with a small silicon implant.
This combined surgery is recommended by Dr. Abramson for approximately 30% of his rhinoplasty patients. The additional surgery, performed with a tiny incision and rapid healing, seems minor – but it can make all the difference in ensuring that your appearance change is exactly the change that you want.
Add Balance to Your Face
Did you know that it is the proportions of your face that determine how large or small your nose appears? The distance between your eyes, the size of your lips, and the size and shape of your cheekbones all contribute to the appearance of your nose, but the single additional feature that most affects the appearance of your nose is your chin.
If you have a chin that recedes, or simply doesn’t protrude very much, your nose will appear larger and more dominant in your face. This is especially noticeable in your profile. The surgery can greatly benefit anyone who has a ‘weak’ chin regarding overall proportion to bone structure and other key features of the face.
A Nose That Fits Your Face
Nose surgery means changes in micro millimeters, but it can radically change the appearance of your face. If you are unhappy with your nose because it is too large, too small, or misshapen because of an accident or birth, nose surgery can change your look in a way that creates balance and a more pleasing aesthetic, while a chin implant can strengthen and improve your appearance from every angle.
In this video, Dr. Abramson discusses why a Chin Augmentation sometimes goes hand in hand with Rhinoplasty in order to get the best results.
“So, when we do a consultation with a patient, facial proportions are exceedingly important, and we review these, particularly with the help of our computer imaging system. Many times what we will determine is that a patient’s chin is somewhat poorly projected and may also affect how the nose is perceived. So, sometimes we actually will recommend augmenting the projection of the chin while doing a Rhinoplasty, and this also, not only increases the improvement in what the perception of the nose surgery is, but also the patients seem to be much happier. We do the chin augmentation procedure through a small incision that’s actually under the chin where many people already have a small scar from childhood falls, and it’s minimally noticeable. I have not had to revise any of these incisions in 20 years of practice.”
The nose and the chin play a big role in the overall balance and proportion of the face. If you are considering Rhinoplasty, a chin augmentation may be necessary to give you the overall look you are trying to achieve from Rhinoplasty. As stated above, computer imaging, which gives you a mock up of what you will look like after the procedure, can help you determine whether to combine these procedures.
