Today we’re going to be doing some Kybella, and we’re going to do this under the chin here, because she has a little bit of fat here that she’d like to see a little more contour, a little sharper angle, and a little bit of feathering out here as well. And so we’re going to do go ahead and do our first treatment of Kybella, she’s never had it before. She’s been numbing for over an hour with some topical anesthetic. She’s taken some Ibuprofen, which should help a little bit with pain control, and is not a problem with any bleeding issues during the procedure. You’ll see that we’ll have some ice that she’s going to use as well during the procedure, and that will help to cool down the skin and is a little more helpful for pain control.

If you are bothered by your double chin, but don’t want to have surgery, there’s a new treatment called Kybella that might be right for you. More than 80% of people are bothered by fat under the chin, also known as submental fullness.

Kybella can destroy fat cells under the chin without surgery. This injectable treatment results in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin in just 3 treatments or less.

Kybella might be right for you if you:

– Are unhappy with your appearance due to fat under the chin
– Feel that your double chin gives the illusion that you are either old or heavy
– Exercise and eat right, but cannot change the appearance of your double chin
– Want to avoid surgery

Once Dr. Abramson determines if Kybella is right for you, he will design your treatment plan based on the amount of fat under the chin and your desired aesthetic outcome.

Now on Kybella you want to stay a certain distance from underneath the jawline there. And, her primary little fat pad that we’re going to focus on is right in this area too and you also want to stay above certain structures that are deeper and lower down in the neck as well.

Each treatment takes about 20-30 minutes. The fat cells are permanently destroyed and are no longer able to accumulate or store fat. Once you reach your desired aesthetic outcome, future Kybella treatments are not expected.

Now, what you can expect over the next several days is that your neck is going to swell up a little bit because the medicine makes the fat cell leaky. And, so, it becomes very liquidy under there underneath the surface. So you’ll it be a little loose, and then your body reabsorbs that. If you have pain, Ibuprofen is fine. You can take Tyenol too but Ibuprofen will probably work a little bit better. And you don’t have to worry about bleeding issues and those kind of things. It takes a while to start seeing the ultimate effect. We have you come back in about 4-6 weeks to get a recheck, and then it takes multiple treatments, but everybody’s a little different. So, you might get a wow effect right off the bat and that’s all you need, or you may need a couple more.
